Aschan & Co was awarded an assignment by the Italian Ministry of Culture, to organise a contribution to Göteborgs Kulturkalas to mark Italy's 150th anniversary. We chose to mark this anniversary by placing some of William Sweetlove's distinctive works in Trädgårdsföreningen and in Götaplatsen. William Sweetlove, a world famous artist, is a member of The Cracking Art Group based in Northern Italy.

Sweden Today

Sweden Today was a combination of trade fairs, exhibitions, and business events which focussed on providing Swedish creativity with exposure through promoting Swedish products, business systems, and art. There were also seminars and network development events, with a view to bringing together and promoting financial and creative co-operation between Swedish and Indian companies, public organizations, and cultural life.
The project led to exchanges between companies such as AB Volvo, SKF, Tata Steel, Tata Cars, Emami Chisel Group, and the State of India. These companies and the State of India were the main sponsors of the project.
Nobel Memorial Week

The Embassy of Sweden in New Delhi organizes a Nobel Memorial Week each year to present Swedish creativity. Swedish companies contribute to the promotion of Sweden as a creative and innovative country. The Embassy has chosen Alfred Nobel as a symbol for this event, to further emphasise that there is a long tradition of innovation in Sweden. Seminars and network development events between Indian and Swedish companies are an important part of this event. Sweden was represented by Maud Olofsson, Swedish Minister for Enterprise and Energy. Companies such as Volvo Group, SKF, Sandviken, and Atlas Copco took part in the event.
Aschan & Co was responsible for the design, financing, and marketing of the exhibition/trade show.
Gennext IIII

Kolkata, India
Gennext is the starting point for commercial exchanges between India and Sweden. The Mayor of Kolkata inaugurated the event, noting in his speech that all eyes were now turning towards Scandinavia and Sweden. The Indian Centre for Built Environment and the Ministry of Urban Planning promoted the vision of bringing together Swedish and Indian companies to promote financial and creative cooperation, to find players capable of improving the environment in Indian megacities.

The event was a part of Göteborgs Kulturkalas and was one of the largest exhibitions of contemporary Indian art ever shown in Scandinavia. Exhibits included more than 50 works by 23 artists and artists' groups from throughout India, including Anish Kapoor, Subodh Gupta, and MF Hussain. The exhibition was produced by Aschan & Co and was sponsored by Region Västra Götaland and Göteborg & Co. The works were selected in close cooperation with Vikram Bachhawat, the Director of Emami Chisel Craft.
Indian Fashion

Rahul Mishra, Wendell Rodricks, and Neelanjana Ghose are all Indian designers who have become stars within the international fashion world. This exhibition included some of the creations which were shown at The Indian Fashion Show. This was their first joint show in Sweden and part of a larger cultural exchange between Gothenburg and Kolkata.
Spirit of Peace

As part of the larger cultural exchange between India and Sweden, Aschan & Co arranged meetings between Indian government officials and Chalmers, SKF, AB Volvo, and Västsvenska Handelskammaren, in association with the Spirit of Peace photography exhibition. The meetings were held to discuss solutions to a number of environmental problems in Indian megacities.
Indian Fashion Show

The Indian Fashion Show was a part of a commercial exchange between India and Sweden in which India showed itself as one of the large international players in the creative industries. Fashion designers such as Rahul Mishra, Wendell Rodricks, and Manish Arora attended, and presented their products and clothes.
Unravelling Sweden

An exhibition & trade show with seminars in which representatives of the Indian government were given the opportunity to meet and discuss sustainable urban development with leading personnel within Volvo Group, SKF, Sandviken, and Atlas Copco. The overall theme was 'Urban Future'.
Participants in the seminars and network development events included Kamal Nath, (the Minister of State for Urban Development), Santosh Mehrotra (Director General of the Ministry of Urban Planning) and V.K Singh (India's Commander-in-Chief). Gothenburg was represented by Deputy Mayor Elisabeth Rothenberg.
Light Festival in Kungsbacka

Light Festival 2009 in Kungsbacka was held to find out more about how the general public would react to alternative lighting in the city. Kungsbacka municipality wanted to increase their experience with this type of event to provide a better basis for deciding whether to hold an annual Light Festival. We engaged Mario Airo, one of the world's leading light artists, to provide Kungsbackaborna with a unique experience.
Handelsbanken / Customer event

We arranged a customer event for around 100 people from Handelsbanken, Regional Bank Western Sweden, Capital Management. The program focussed on presenting Sweden's business relations with China in a new light. Guests were given a well-informed report about the recently ended Beijing Olympic Games, by Swedish athletics coach Yannick Tregaro. Refreshments and cocktail sandwiches were prepared by one of Sweden's greatest chefs, Leif Mannerström.
Canada, Göteborgs Kulturkalas 2009 (Gothenburg Cultural festival)

Canada as a whole, and more specifically the Olympic Games in Vancouver 2010, were promoted as travel destinations during Kulturkalas. Max Streicher's spectacular works of art were employed to this end, in addition to commercial publications. Aschan & Co was the main contractor for the project's design, financing, and marketing.

Tjolöholms slott
The Canadian artist Max Streicher's gigantic inflatable horses, clouds, and people were a dominant feature of our summer exhibition at Tjolöholms slott in Kungsbacka.
At the request of Aschan & Co, the Centre for Contemporary Canadian Art (CCCA) selected their favourite Swedish contemporary artist: Stefan W. Igelström. His dreamlike and mystical pictures both contrasted and cohered with Max Streicher's large scale fairyland among the clouds.
Sweden at the Turin World Design Capital 2008

Italy-Sweden was a part of the major World Design Capital event, the main theme being Shaping Global Design. Aschan & Co was responsible for designing and financing the Swedish part in which Swedish creativity, focused on Gothenburg industry, was promoted.
Theme Days: Italian Contemporary Art

Konsthögskolan Valand
The theme days were a part of the project 'Italy-Sweden: Cultural Collaboration through Contemporary Art'. The aim of the project was to promote Italian contemporary art from an institutional, commercial, and practical perspective. Lectures were given by Paolo Colombo, Former Curator of the Rome Museum of Modern Art (Maxxi), the artist Davide Bertocchi, and Antonio Colombo, owner of the gallery Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea in Milan.
Fatto in Svezia (Made in Sweden)

Fatto i Svezia launched the 'Italy-Sweden: Cultural Collaboration through Contemporary Art' project. The exhibition included works of 14 outstanding artists, including Maurizio Cattelan, Diego Perrone, and Loris Cecchini, who together represent the most important trends within contemporary Italian art. Fatto in Svezia was a serious attempt to promote a number of artistic expressions which Italian artists use; it was executed in a way which had never previously been attempted in Scandinavia.
